Lacy Scott & Knight were formed by the merger of two long-standing Suffolk businesses, Lacy Scott & Sons of Bury St Edmunds and RC Knight & Sons of Stowmarket, both established in the late 1800s. The two companies developed strong links with the local community, each running a livestock market in their respective towns where auctions were the heartbeat of the company. Now Lacy Scott and Knight continue to keep their strong relationship with the local rural community thriving through our professional work and continued auctioneering service.

Lacy Scott and Knight provide a professional auction service whether that is an onsite auction with the ability of online bidding for those who cannot make the sale in person or a timed online auction, specialising in agricultural machinery and equipment. Our sales, which are held throughout the year with onsite sales generally being held on Saturdays to ensure a well-attended sale.

Through extensive advertising, we attract a large number of potential buyers, both from the local area and further afield, ensuring the best prices possible are achieved. Demand for good quality items of machinery with a genuine provenance are reflected in the premium prices we obtain. Our sales generally include a wide range of farm implements, machinery and equipment.

Onsite Auctions

The onsite auction is still the most popular way of disposing of farm equipment most efficiently and with comprehensive transparency. From providing machinery guide prices to the sale catalogue to the clearance of the sale items following the sale the whole process can be undertaken in 4-6 weeks. Onsite auctions also retain the sense of occasion for those who are deciding to dispose of their farming equipment. With regular auctions in the East Anglian region our enthusiastic team of auctioneers work closely with sellers and buyers to ensure a successful outcome.

Online Timed Auctions

Our online timed auction process for farm machinery gives vendors the opportunity to sell and buy farm machinery and equipment via a personalised online auction service run through I-Bidder and Bidspotter. The service works for many clients especially in the winter months. The auction generally runs for a ten-day period with two viewing days to ensure the buyers have the opportunity to view the condition of the items before submitting a bid online. The service is on a ‘no sale no fee’ basis and allows vendors to avoid the cost of expensive haulage to and from a collective auction. Since the inception of our online auctions they have proven to be an extremely popular method of disposal of farm equipment with less disruption to the client.
